Map.

Ladies and Gents, I officially have 11 days until married life begins. What does this call for? A crafty project, of course.

I guess I can't take full credit for the idea. My wonderful mother said something about having a "display table" at our reception... followed with "maybe a map of everywhere you and Daren have been or something?"

Bingo! Daren and I have traveled a LOT in our short dating career. We only officially dated for about 11 weeks.. and we were out of town/road-tripping for 8 of those weeks. Crazy, I know. Then the engagement period brought it's own trips, including Virginia, Boise, San Francisco, and Island Park. So, I guess partially to keep me occupied in the coming days, I've begun my "Road Trip Map Project".  I thought it'd be a cuteski present I could give to Daren, too. He'll probably squeal like a girl when he sees it. He tends to get really excited like that. *cough cough*

When I started brainstorming, "MAP" was literally my only idea. So, it took some time. And LOTS of sketches. But, eventually, I found the frame I wanted and sketched this out with a dry erase marker:

The idea is to have Utah in the middle with red dotted lines going from Provo to the big places we've visited together. Then, on the side is a key with numbers that correspond to the map.. I guess to list what the trip was/big events that occurred. Kinda make sense?

This is a more detailed sketch I did after I liked the general idea.

Then came the fun part.. picking out the materials!

At first I thought I would just draw everything, but then I decided it would be adorable to use different materials. After a trip to Joann's, I now have a fabric canvas with red yarn  for the red-dotted lines.

Also, I had fun with pipe-cleaner.

Golden Gate Bridge, anyone?

In the end, I'm going to sew a banner that with "fly"across the top and say something like:

Daren & Kaylee: It all began with a road trip...

Or something corny like that.

Here's the current version:

We'll see how it turns out. Stay tuned! (Or.. just come to my reception..)
